Targeting and triggers
Choose when a campaign opens, how often it shows, and on which pages and devices.
Each campaign decides for itself when it opens (the trigger), how often it comes back (frequency), and where it’s allowed to appear (pages and devices).
Popup triggers
In the editor, open Media, style & trigger → Trigger & Frequency and choose one:
| Trigger | Options | When the popup opens |
|---|---|---|
| Time | When to show: Immediately, After 1.5 seconds, After 3 seconds, After 5 seconds, After 10 seconds | After the delay, counted from page load. |
| Scroll | Scroll threshold: 25%, 50% or 75% | When the customer has scrolled that far down the page. On a page too short to scroll, it opens right away. |
| Leaving the page | Mobile fallback (idle): 10, 15 or 30 seconds | On desktop, when the mouse moves out through the top of the window, toward the tabs or address bar. On phones, after the fallback time instead. |
Bar triggers
In a bar campaign, open Behavior and choose Immediately or Scroll (25%, 50% or 75%).
Frequency
Display frequency applies to popups:
| Option | Result |
|---|---|
| Once per session | After the popup has shown once, it doesn’t show again in the same browser tab, whether or not the customer closed it. |
| On every page load | The popup opens again on every page the customer visits. |
Once a Once per session popup has shown, the next matching popup can take its place on the following page.
Bars don’t use this setting. They show on every page until the customer closes them, and On dismiss decides how long they stay hidden. See Announcement bars.
Pages
Open Targeting & Frequency and choose a Page targeting mode:
| Mode | Where the campaign shows |
|---|---|
| All pages | Everywhere in your Online Store. |
| Selected only | Only on the page types and paths you pick. |
| Exclude selected | Everywhere except the page types and paths you pick. |
With Selected only or Exclude selected, pick any of these Page types: Home, Product, Collection, Cart, Search, Blog, Article, Page and 404.
To target specific pages, add Paths (one per line):
/pages/contactmatches that page only.- Add
*at the end to match everything that starts with the path./collections/sale*matches/collections/saleand/collections/sale-shoes.
A page counts as selected when it matches a page type or a path. If you choose Selected only or Exclude selected but pick nothing, the campaign shows on all pages.
Devices
Devices has three options: All devices, Mobile only and Desktop only. Popwell treats screens narrower than 750px as mobile, so a narrow desktop window counts as mobile too.
Schedule
The Publish window in the same group sets dates for when the campaign may appear. See Scheduling and priority.

The Campaigns page shows each campaign’s trigger and pages under its name, for example “Scroll %50 · Only: Product, Collection”. The same line appears at the top of the editor, with an Edit link to the trigger settings.
