Announcement bars

An announcement bar is a strip of text across the top or bottom of the page. It can show one message, rotate through several, or scroll them across the screen. You edit it in the Messages, Look, Behavior and Targeting & Frequency groups of the campaign studio.

Starters

Starter	What it sets up
Free shipping	One message with the amount left for free shipping, a success message, and a $50 threshold. See Free shipping bar.
Installments	Two rotating messages about installments and cash on delivery, on a dark blue background.
Countdown bar	One message with a countdown, on a dark red background. See Countdown timers.

All bar starters show immediately, at the top of the page, and stay sticky while scrolling.

Messages

Each message has:

• Message 1, Message 2, …: the text. Emoji work.
• Link: turn on to make the message clickable, then choose a Link destination: Sign up, Log in, My account, Cart, Home, All products or Custom URL.
• Up and Down to change the order, and Delete to remove it. A bar always keeps at least one message.

Select Add message to add another.

Look

Setting	What it does
Background, Text color, Link color	Bar colors. Link color is used for messages with a link.
Height	32px to 72px.
Font size	12px to 22px.
Font weight	Normal, Semibold or Bold.
Alignment	Left, Center or Right.
Position	Top or Bottom.
Stay sticky while scrolling	Top bars only. Keeps the bar on screen as customers scroll.

A sticky top bar is placed inside your theme’s sticky header when Popwell finds one, so the bar and the menu stay together. Otherwise the bar is fixed to the top of the window and the page is moved down to make room.

Bottom bars are always sticky, so they stay on screen instead of ending up below the footer.

Behavior

When it shows

Choose Immediately or Scroll. With Scroll, pick a Scroll threshold of 25%, 50% or 75% of the page.

Message display

Option	What customers see
Static	Only the first message.
Rotating	One message at a time, changing every 3, 4 or 6 seconds (Rotation interval). Rotation pauses while the browser tab is in the background.
Scrolling	All messages in one line moving across the bar, at Slow, Normal or Fast Scroll speed.

In Scrolling mode the messages are plain text, so links don’t work. Customers whose device is set to reduce motion see the first message without movement.

Close and dismiss

Turn on Close button to show a × on the bar. On dismiss decides what happens after a customer closes it:

Option	Result
Hide for session	Hidden until the customer closes the browser tab.
Hide permanently	Hidden in that browser for good, unless the customer clears their site data.
Show on every load	Shows again on the next page.

One bar per page

Customers never see two Popwell bars at once. When several active bars match a page, the one with the higher priority shows. See Scheduling and priority. A bar and a popup can show on the same page, except on the Free plan, which shows one campaign in total.
