Free shipping bar

A free shipping bar reads the customer’s cart and tells them how far they are from your free shipping threshold. When the cart reaches it, the bar switches to a success message.

Popwell only shows the message. Free shipping itself is set up in Settings → Shipping and delivery in your Shopify admin, for example with a free rate that has a minimum order price. Use the same amount in both places.

Set it up

1. Select Create campaign → Announcement Bar → Free shipping → Continue with template.
2. Open Messages. Because the starter has a threshold, you see the Dynamic free shipping panel.
3. Set Free shipping threshold to your amount, for example 50.
4. Set Currency code to the ISO code of your store currency, for example USD, EUR or TRY.
5. Edit the Progress message and the Success message.
6. Select Save campaign.

Use Progress and Unlocked above the fields to preview each state.

Placeholders

Type these in the messages and Popwell replaces them with amounts from the cart:

Placeholder	Replaced with
{{amount_remaining}}	The amount still needed to reach the threshold.
{{threshold}}	Your threshold.
{{cart_total}}	The current cart total.

For example: 🚚 {{amount_remaining}} left for free shipping (min {{threshold}}).

Amounts are formatted with the Currency code in the number style of the customer’s browser, for example $20.00.

How it updates

• The bar reads the cart when the page loads.
• When a customer adds, changes or removes items without leaving the page, for example in a cart drawer, the bar updates by itself.
• When the cart total reaches the threshold, the Success message replaces the progress message. If the success message is empty, the bar shows “You’ve unlocked free shipping!”.

Stores with several currencies

Popwell compares your threshold number with the cart total in the currency the customer is paying in. It doesn’t convert amounts. With a threshold of 50 and Currency code USD, a customer paying in euros reaches the goal at 50 euros, and the amounts are still shown with the $ sign.

Turn the threshold off

Select Clear threshold (static bar) to switch back to a normal bar with several messages. You can also turn any bar into a free shipping bar: in Messages, fill in Free shipping threshold under Free shipping (dynamic).
